Stopovers - DJIBOUTI

From Djibouti we usually imagine barracks lost somewhere in the Horn of Africa, with a few soldiers bored to death under the oppressive heat.

In fact, the little Republic of Djibouti, the former “French Somaliland”, is rich of so many other images.

Let’s cross the country, from Djibouti-City to the lake Abbe and its limestone chimneys and flamingos, through the Bara desert. Let’s stroll in the Goda mountains, stroll around and through the gulf of Tajourah, stroll in the discreet port of Obock or on the glittering lake Assal which are haunted by the memory of Henry de Monfreid and Arthur Rimbaud.
